I have been working towards making the shop more and more functional. The past couple of weeks have been spent organizing (everything should have a logical home) and building cabinets. First I built this lathe tool rack, which also has storage for sanding tools and paper. I use 2" and 3" round velcro-back disks on a drill mounted pad to sand bowls and other turnings.
I also built a miter bench/cabinet to crosscut boards. I was originally intending on mounting the miter saw lower so that the cutting surface was level with the table top, but I thought that would restrict the length of board I could cut. The bench is 16' long. For the cabinet I built in three drawers and three storage cabinets. The cabinet doors are part of a giant pallet of cabinet doors I bought 15 years ago for $100. I've used these doors for everything.
